The ideal time to plant zoysia grass plugs is when soil temperatures reach 70 degrees. You should plant zoysia grass in mid spring through early summer to give the zoysia enough time to establish before winter. Most importantly, plant Zoysia after the last frost. In some USDA zones you should not plant zoysia in the Fall because it is a warm season grass and goes dormant in the winter.
